Sound Hypnosis Stops Blaze
Kevin Gibbons had 3 goals and 3 assists and
Sound Hypnosis scored 3 shorthanded goals on
the way to a 9-4 win over the Blaze, putting them
one win away from the Moore Memorial Trophy.
Sound leads the Division 2 Finals 1-0 and their hot
streak continues with 8 straight wins.  Nick
Pagliaro had 3 goals, 2 of them shorthanded.
Sound Hypnosis fell into penalty trouble, giving the
Blaze 6 power plays in the game.  Although at
times frustrated, the team was able keep their
composure and focus on the game.  The Blaze
were unable to find their offense, going long
stretches between goals.  They outshot Sound
35-32 but were once again unable to sustain
pressure on goalie Chris Harbolic, who now
boasts a 3.88 goals against average in his past 8
games, all wins.  Game 2 is Thursday August 28
at 7:00pm where the Blaze will once again play for
their survival.

It was the worst possible scenario for the Storm,
barely enough to play, no subs, and facing the #1
ranked Bandits.  Besides running on fumes, any
chances the Storm were able to generate were
shot down immediately by goalie Amit Sinha.
When all was said and done, the Bandits shutout
the Storm 8-0 to take Game 1 of the Empire Cup
Finals.
Andrew Cetola led the way with 3 goals
and an assist.  Ryan Cotcamp scored 2 and threw
in 3 assists in the win.  Sinha stopped all 16 shots
faced as the Bandits are on the doorstep of the
title, one win away from locking up the Cup.  Storm
goalie Brett Roman was under constant pressure
from the Bandits who took 43 shots on goal, not to
mention a ton of posts and crossbars.  Roman
made 35 saves as the Storm are put on the brink
of elimination again.  They will need to win on
Thursday in Game 2 in order to keep their season
going.
